What it's like
Forlanini is the eastern belt of the city, between viale Forlanini, Ortica and the boundary with Segrate. Historically Milan's first airports were here, first Taliedo in the 1910s and then Linate, still operating a few kilometres away.
The quarter is made of different parts: the Parco Forlanini, a large park of meadows and farmhouses crossed by the river Lambro; the residential districts of Taliedo and Morsenchio; and fringes of warehouses and plant nurseries towards the ring road.
Just beyond the park is the Idroscalo, the 1930s artificial basin that is the Milanese seaside.
The arrival of the blue M4, which links Linate to the centre in fifteen minutes, has changed the area's mobility a great deal, historically dependent on buses and cars.

Where to eat and drink
Forlanini's food is local and scattered: trattorias towards Ortica, pizzerias and the kiosks of the Parco Forlanini and the Idroscalo in the warm months.
The quarter has two street markets: via Barigozzi on Tuesday and viale Ungheria on Thursday.
Getting there
The blue M4 crosses the area with the Forlanini FS and Repetti stops and the Linate terminus, linking the airport to San Babila in about fifteen minutes.
Forlanini FS also has the suburban-rail station. On the surface there are tram 27 and several buses towards Ortica and Segrate.
