Ripa di Porta Ticinese, Navigli · District 6

Milan's historic flea market, every Saturday along the Ripa di Porta Ticinese on the Navigli. Stalls of used and vintage clothing, vinyl records, books, homeware, bikes, tools and curiosities of every kind. It has 19th-century roots and for decades ran on the Darsena; it is the reference point for anyone hunting a bargain or a hard-to-find piece.

In the heart of Brera, on the third Sunday of the month (with a break in August), the streets around Via Fiori Chiari fill with stalls of antiques, old books and prints, postcards, jewellery, small furniture and mid-century pieces. Smaller than the Naviglio Grande market, it pairs well with a visit to the Pinacoteca.

Milan's big antiques market: on the last Sunday of the month, more than 350 exhibitors line the Naviglio Grande towpath from Viale Gorizia to Via Valenza. Furniture, prints, silver, ceramics, old books, mid-century pieces and 20th-century design. In some months the date shifts for holidays or events, so check the official calendar.
