The project

Markets of Milan is an independent, unofficial project made to answer a simple question: which neighborhood market is open today, where, and at what time. The site brings together data on all 85 weekly open-air neighborhood markets in Milan, filterable by day and district, with an interactive map and a dedicated page for each market.

The data

The information published here — day, hours, area, number of stalls — comes from the City of Milan's open data portal (CC-BY licence) and is updated periodically. The individual market descriptions, where present, are written by hand from verifiable public sources, not auto-generated.

What you'll find here

Beyond opening times, the site tries to tell you what a market is like and what is around it. Every neighbourhood market has a hand-written description, and alongside the markets there are 34 neighbourhood pages (character, transport, green space, where to eat), pages for the 20 major parks, 14 practical guides (Milan in the rain, with kids, by bike, on a Saturday…) and a month-by-month guide with weather, events, closures and seasonal produce. Covered markets, farmers markets, antiques markets and Christmas markets complete the picture.

How we work

The base data comes from the City of Milan's datasets and is rechecked with every new export: each page shows its source and the date it was last verified at the bottom. Public holidays and known suspensions are flagged on the affected market pages, with a link to the City's official calendar. Every significant change to the data or the site is logged on the updates page, and the full data can be downloaded from the data page. Readers' reports are checked and, when correct, applied.

Advertising and affiliate links

The site is free and is funded by ads and a few affiliate links (tickets and restaurants), always marked as sponsored. Neither the ads nor the affiliate partners influence which markets, neighbourhoods or places appear on the site or how they are described.

Unofficial

Markets of Milan is not a service of the City of Milan and is not affiliated with any public body. For official information about market relocations, suspensions or changes, refer to the City of Milan's own website.
