Rotonda della Besana

A ring of Baroque portico built in the 18th century as the enclosure of the Foppone, the cemetery of the Ospedale Maggiore. Closed as a cemetery in the 19th century, it now encloses an oval lawn where people lie in the sun, and the former church of San Michele at its centre hosts exhibitions and MUBA, the children's museum.
It is not a park for running or playing: it is an urban courtyard of rare elegance, quiet, where you stop on a bench in the shade of the colonnade. A short way from Porta Vittoria and the Sormani library.
