Giardini della Guastalla

The oldest public garden in Milan: it began in 1555 as the grounds of the Guastalla college for poor noble girls and has been open to the city since 1939. Just over a hectare behind the State University, but with three pieces of history inside: a stepped Baroque stone fish pond, a 17th-century sacred aedicula and a neoclassical temple.
It is the right place for a shady break between lectures or after a visit to the Policlinico hospital. Small, well kept and almost always quiet despite its very central position.
