The neighbourhood
Porta Romana follows the corso of the same name, the ancient road to Rome, from the centre out to the ring road.
It is a lively middle-class area, with Liberty-style buildings, historic cinemas and, in recent years, the vast Scalo di Porta Romana building site set to become the 2026 Olympic Village.
The markets
The via Vasari market, on Tuesday, is a short walk from corso di Porta Romana. The Crema - Piacenza one, on Friday, serves the area further south towards Lodi. Both are no-frills neighbourhood food markets.

Nearby are the Fondazione Prada, the Parco Vittime di Piazza Fontana and the Parco delle Basiliche towards Sant'Eustorgio. The M3 (Porta Romana, Lodi T.I.B.B.) links it all to the Duomo in minutes.
