The neighbourhood
Bande Nere and Lorenteggio are the residential core of the western side of the city, grown after the war along the M1.
It is a district of social housing and apartment blocks, densely lived-in, with a practical neighbourhood life of shops, parish halls and markets.
The markets
The via Strozzi market is on Tuesday, the via Tonezza one on Thursday. They are local neighbourhood markets, well stocked on food and with plenty of clothing and household stalls.
Around
The Parco di via Palmieri and, a little further, the large Parco delle Cave and the Cascina Linterno give the area green space. The M1 (Bande Nere, Inganni, Primaticcio) reaches the Duomo in about fifteen minutes.
